Tea Tree
We adore tea tree because it powerfully cleans skin, absorbs oil, reduces skin blemishes and refines skin tone. Because its soothing, antiseptic and wound-healing qualities can penetrate right into the lower skin layers, tea tree has long been used for tending skin ailments like spots, cuts, scrapes, burns, infections and insect bites. English colonists made an aromatic tea from the leaves of this Australian native shrub – hence the name. It was associated with a mythical fountain of youth, probably from Australian Aborigines using water from pools surrounded by tea trees; their leaves fell into the water leaching essential oil, giving the water healing powers for a wide range of ailments.
